ASMPT SIPLACE V Makes Its China Debut: 30 Percent More Real Performance

September 25, 2026

Angle: Timeliness — built around the SIPLACE V’s China launch at NEPCON Asia 2026 (Oct 27–29, Shenzhen).

When ASMPT unveiled the SIPLACE V platform in January 2026, the promise was bold: a placement machine designed from the ground up to deliver up to 30 percent more real performance — not on a spec sheet, but under live production conditions. From October 27 to 29, 2026, at NEPCON Asia in Shenzhen (Booth 13D90, Hall 13), Chinese manufacturers will finally get to see it in person, as SIPLACE V makes its official China debut.

Why “real performance” is the headline

Anyone who has run a high-mix SMT line knows the gap between benchmark numbers and daily throughput. ASMPT attacked that gap at the architecture level: a highly rigid new machine frame, efficient linear drives, and measurement systems with improved resolution enable higher acceleration and shorter non-productive movements. The result — confirmed in field tests across automotive, consumer electronics, smartphone, and IT/networking production — is up to 30 percent more output in real factories with broad product spectra, frequent changeovers, and demanding process requirements.

Zollner Elektronik, one of the world’s largest EMS providers, validated the platform in high-mix, low-volume production: some 25,000 assembled flat modules and 7.3 million components placed, with the machine setting what they call new standards in performance, flexibility, quality, and effective placement output.

The numbers that matter

  • Up to 105,000 cph machine placement speed, with the live NEPCON Asia demo running at a benchmark rate of more than 52,500 cph
  • ±25 µm @ 3σ standard accuracy with the new SIPLACE CP20 collect-and-place head (52,500 cph)
  • CPP head switches between collect-and-place, pick-and-place, and mixed modes via software — up to 28,000 cph with placement forces of up to 15 N
  • TWIN VHF head for large odd-shaped components: up to 200 × 150 × 28 mm, up to 100 N, ~6,000 cph — squarely aimed at the big processor BGAs in AI server boards
  • 90 feeder slots and boards up to 700 × 530 mm in single-lane mode (400 × 280 mm dual-lane), with up to two tray units per machine
  • 1.1 × 2.4 m footprint — a new floorspace-productivity record for the industry

All of this runs on the placement heads ASMPT is known for, including the industry-unique individually rotatable nozzle segments, individual component inspection, and seamless traceability as standard.

Built to drop into existing lines

Perhaps the most practical part of the story: SIPLACE V is fully compatible with existing SIPLACE X feeders, cameras, and ASMPT software. Smart Pin Support, single- or dual-lane conveyors, and a universal head interface that allows head changes while the machine keeps running make it a straightforward upgrade path rather than a line rebuild.

At NEPCON Asia, ASMPT will pair the debut with the DEK TQ XL printer for large-format AI/HPC boards (up to 850 × 610 × 8 mm, 12-second core cycle, ±20 µm @ 2.0 Cpk wet-print accuracy — with automated setup changeover cut from about four minutes to 30 seconds), the SIPLACE CA2 multifunctional platform for advanced packaging (down to 10 µm @ 3σ), and the SIPLACE SX handling 150 × 150 mm, 500 g+ AI server BGAs.

On the software side, the WORKS Software Suite and Factory Solutions bring automated program changes (IPC-HERMES-9852), closed-loop maintenance, and full traceability, while the latest Virtual Assist adds a continuous AI chat and image-based spare-parts recognition from a smartphone photo.

The takeaway

For the Chinese market — the world’s largest and most competitive electronics manufacturing arena — the timing of this debut is no accident. AI server boards, advanced packaging, and relentless high-mix pressure are exactly the workloads SIPLACE V was engineered for. If the field-test numbers hold up on the show floor, the “up to 30 percent more real performance” claim will be the number every line planner in Shenzhen will be recalculating their ROI against.
